Selma Slezovic Mehovic

Abstract: This paper explores the quality of motivational factors shaping English language learning among students enrolled at the Faculty for Education, University of Belgrade (Novi Pazar). Through a comprehensive exploration, the research aims to uncover the nuanced motivational dynamics that drive and sustain students' engagement with the English language. Drawing on selfdetermination theory and socio-educational models, the study examines how different qualitative dimensions of motivation (e.g. autonomous versus controlled orientations) influence students' engagement with English language learning. The research further investigates the impact of self-efficacy, socio-educational models, and self-determination theory on students' language learning motivation. By focusing on this specific cohort, the paper not only contributes to the understanding of motivational influences in language learning but also provides insights tailored to the unique context of the Faculty for Education in Belgrade, offering implications for educational practices and student support initiatives.
